There are three kinds of deva:
(1) rulers by popular acclaim such as kings and queens. Sammutideva;
(2) deities reborn as grown-ups; -i.e., celestial gods and brahmas, Upapattideva;
(3) the pure One, i.e., the Buddha, Visuddhideva.
